Director of Marketing & Communications

The Edinburgh International Festival is seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated individual as its new Director of Marketing & Communications. The post-holder will contribute to the strategic development of the International Festival by supporting and building the Festival’s brand, leading on its marketing and communications strategy and maximising audience attendance and ticket sales revenue.
The Edinburgh International Festival is the world’s leading multi-genre arts festival, bringing some of the finest performers in theatre, opera, music and dance to Scotland’s capital city for three weeks in August. International quality, innovative programming, the intensity of the three-week programme and the year round engagement with all the communities the International Festival serves make up a unique brand identity.
The new Director of Marketing will build on a strong track record of success, bringing a fresh approach to the marketing and communications strategy. A minimum of eight years’ relevant experience or equivalent is essential, including experience of working at senior management level, contributing to strategic decision making, managing and developing brands and overseeing marketing and media relations, audience development and customer relationship management.
The successful candidate will be a robust, flexible individual with the ability to work under pressure. They will also have a strong, supportive and collaborative management style.

Chorus Director | Edinburgh Festival Chorus
The Edinburgh International Festival seeks expressions of interest from world class choral directors to succeed Christopher Bell as Chorus Director of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus from Autumn 2018.
The Edinburgh Festival Chorus has been at the heart of the International Festival since its foundation in 1965 and performs a number of programmes each year with some of the finest international orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Filarmonica Della Scala and conductors including Sir Andrew Davis, Valery Gergiev, Sir Antonio Pappano and Riccardo Chailly.
The current rehearsal schedule has regular weekly rehearsals held in Edinburgh during the winter (October – May), a shorter Spring augmenter group in Glasgow on a Thursday evening (January – April) plus additional intensive weekend rehearsals in the period immediately before the festival.
The position is offered for an initial 3 year term.

Usher Hall Concerts Manager (temporary)
Salary: £30,000-£35,000 pro rata to duration of contract
Fixed term: Monday 30 July to Sunday 26 August 2018
The International Festival is looking to appoint a temporary Usher Hall Concerts Manager to manage the Usher Hall concerts series during the 2018 International Festival, acting as the key liaison between the International Festival, visiting artists and resident Usher Hall staff.
You will ensure the smooth running of all International Festival activities in the Usher Hall during the month of August including rehearsals, concerts, broadcasts, load-ins and load-outs and you will be the primary point of contact for International Festival staff in the Usher Hall including: Head of Music, Planning Director, Music Production Co-ordinator, Instrument Porter, Head of Artistic Management, Artist Liaison staff, Transport Manager, Technical Department and Festival Director.
You should have significant experience in managing orchestral projects and tours, either as a Senior Orchestra Concerts/Tour Manager, the touring representative of an agency or within a receiving concert hall or festival with significant experience of dealing with the highest profile artists and orchestras.
